Black folks heard Tabitha Brown loud and clear
The 'black conversation' that Yvette Nicole Brown and Keke Palmer comically explained, from Whoopi Goldberg and VP Kamala Harris to Tabitha Brown
Remember what I said on October 20, 2024 about black women having full conversations without ever saying a word? I have another example. Full disclosure: Iād tapped out on target in February 2020. It had become Racial Profiling Headquarters at one location. But I still had another location that I hoped would never mirror the first one ā until it did.
But once the second location had two busybodies who actually got mad at me for having my own dog outside for curbside pickup, I was super done. Better Business Bureau complaint done. Never to be seen in Target again done. Laughed and tore the letter I received for a monetary discount and to rethink canceling my RED card done.

The amount of local grocery stores I found out about after I was done with Target was wild. Iād been ignoring these stores for at least a decade and going to big chains.
I temporarily thought about going back in once I found out Tabitha Brown had a whole collection of items there ā from dog treats to red wine to seasoning and āHello thereā mugs, but my decision had been made. Target was getting overly confident in mistreating customers while wanting them to do business there. And now here comes the dismantling of their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs. We heard you, Tab, we heard you loud and clear. And whatās so unfair is as much as I want to support Tab, that means supporting Target. And that just canāt happen. My Target boycott continues.
Writerās note on October 20, 2024: The full video interview has been set to private, and the three public videos on āThe Viewā YouTube channel show the moments before and after this moment. I hope the longer video is set to public again because that silent convo was so dope.
Original post on October 12, 2024: I have had many of these conversations with black women from across a room, especially when weāre not sitting anywhere near each other but need to make sure we both saw, heard and understood what we think we heard. I can recall someone purposely making sure I sat in a seat that made it impossible to look at another co-worker. She knew these silent conversations could happen.

I laughed when Yvette Nicole Brown called it out with Keke Palmer. And if you watch this moment with VP Kamala Harris and Whoopi Goldberg, you see it again. We have so many similarities and differences, but this is that one thing we all know we can do without saying much aloud.
Watch Harrisā full interview on āThe Viewā here, but this specific moment was the highlight for me. (Side note: I think all the women look great all dressed up for the vice president, but I was immediately checking out Goldbergās pink pants and pink shoes. Sheās not an AKA, but if I took notice, I know she did.) And why did I feel like crying during Goldbergās āproudā comment? And the VP looked like she might too. Something about that energy.
