Rep. Jasmine Crockett's DNC speech made me laugh and cry
Highlights from the Democratic National Convention
When I saw the Texas House representative walk toward the 2024 Democratic National Convention podium, I expected to laugh a lot, hum plenty of “mmm-hmms” and recite a few “Say it louder for the people in the back” while I cooked breakfast.
I knew Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett teaching Marjorie Taylor Greene a lesson with the “bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch body” viral video would come up in some kind of way. However, I did not expect to be cooking garlic hashbrowns and crying.

As an Amazon affiliate, I earn a percentage from purchases with my referral links. I know some consumers are choosing to boycott Amazon for its DEI removal. However, after thinking about this thoroughly, I want to continue promoting cool products from small businesses, women-owned businesses and (specifically) Black-owned businesses who still feature their items on Amazon. As of the first date of Black History Month 2025, each new post will ALWAYS include a MINIMUM of one product sold by a Black-owned business. (I have visited the seller’s official site to verify that Amazon Black-owned logo.) I am (slowly) doing this with older, popular posts too. If you still choose to boycott, I 100% respect that decision.

Crockett’s speech about how she first met current Vice President Kamala Harris was not the story I was expecting. The entire speech was golden, but this particular part warmed my heart.
Solid speech. And she gave her supporters another T-shirt idea: “Will a vindictive, vile villain violate voters’ vision for a better America or not?”
The answer: No!
