10 of the most curious quotes from 'Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump'
The 2020 documentary that every voter should watch before the November 2024 elections
I watch countless documentaries. Some I forget about as soon as the credits roll, and others are good enough to watch again. I didn’t expect UNCORK’D Entertainment’s “#Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump” to be in the latter category. After all, there’s not much more I thought I could learn after the White House nightmare from 2016 to 2020 (not including January 6, 2021).

Interestingly, “#Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump” highlighted a considerable amount of moments that I slept through before Trump was president, mainly because I didn’t pay any iota of attention to him before his name was on the ballot. I never watched “The Apprentice.” I wasn’t one of those (peculiar) women who found him attractive or charming. Outside of hearing about his ad for the Central Park 5, I couldn’t’ve told anybody much about him — until he started speaking on politics. I was not amused.
“In the armed forces, there’s a nuclear weapons program called The Personnel Reliability Program. ‘Do you have personal defects?’ ‘Do you have financial problems, which could compromise you?’ ‘Do you have a problem with infidelity?’ This is the program where they screen you to see if you can be trusted to hold an M16 to guard the truck that might carry a nuclear weapon. … The president of the United States doesn’t have to meet any of these parameters. None of them whatsoever — because the electorate choosing you clears you into all of these programs.”

But watching “Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump” makes me question voters who did know who he was and were very familiar with him. While psychologists and former White House staffers throughout the documentary dissect Trump’s personality, most of that was obvious to me already. It’s the lesser-talked-about, day-to-day moments (often before he was in the White House) that kept me interested in this production.
Here are 10 of the most interesting quotes throughout the documentary.
“My initial impression of Donald Trump was like everybody else. I was starstruck. Back then, speaking about women that way, it was more the norm. I went to a fundraiser right after Ivanna and Donald divorced, so I was excited that he was there. I went up to him, and I said, ‘Hello. I’m a huge Howard Stern fan, and I wanted to introduce myself.’ And he said, ‘Why would I speak to you when there’s so many beautiful women here? I wouldn’t even let you suck my dick.” - Suzanne Lachmann, Psy.D.
“Our current diagnostic system, the DSM, is based on observable, behavioral criteria. Well, when you meet with someone, they can lie to you. They can say, ‘Oh, I never do that. I don’t do that.’ But if you could actually observe their behavior, if you could follow them around, if you could watch them on TV, if you could read their social media, if you could talk to their significant others, you’d probably get a much more reliable indicator of how they behave.” - John Gartner, Ph.D., former professor of John Hopkins University
“Trump is a sociopath, a sadist, a con artist, a racist, a misogynist, a sexist in general and, I think it is a problem.“ - Justin Frank, M.D., former professor of George Washington University
